About PGCIL Diploma Trainee (DT) Exam 2026
What is the PGCIL DT Exam?
The Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) conducts the Diploma Trainee (DT) examination to recruit engineering diploma holders across various disciplines like Electrical, Civil, and Electronics. It is a highly competitive computer-based test (CBT) that serves as a primary gateway for a career in one of India's leading Maharatna Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).
Exam Pattern & Marking Scheme
The CBT is divided into two distinct parts containing objective-type questions:
- Total Questions: 170 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
- Part I (Technical Knowledge Test): 120 Questions based on your specific engineering discipline.
- Part II (Supervisory Aptitude Test): 50 Questions covering Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability, Data Sufficiency, and General English vocabulary.
- Positive Marks: +1 mark is awarded for every correct answer.
- Negative Marking: -0.25 marks (1/4th) are deducted for every incorrect attempt. Unanswered questions do not carry a penalty.
Normalization Process & Score Calculation
Because the PGCIL DT exam is typically held across multiple shifts and dates, the difficulty level of the question papers can vary. To ensure fairness across all candidates, a normalization formula is applied to the raw scores. Our PGCIL DT Answer Key calculator applies standard statistical modeling to accurately predict your normalized marks and rank by evaluating your shift's average performance against overall trends.
