Recruitment Overview: CEN 09/2025
The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has initiated the Level-1 recruitment drive under Centralized Employment Notice (CEN) No. 09/2025. This nationwide examination is set to fill 22,195 vacancies. Candidates recruited under Level-1 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix form the operational backbone of the Indian Railways, handling critical maintenance, safety, and logistical duties.

Official Percentile Normalization Formula
Because the RRB Group D Computer Based Test (CBT) is conducted across hundreds of shifts over several weeks, the difficulty level inevitably fluctuates. To eliminate any unfair advantage, RRB mandates a strict Percentile-based Normalization methodology.
- Percentile Score: This is a relative metric, not a percentage. It indicates the percentage of candidates who scored equal to or lower than you in your exact shift. The shift topper always receives a 100 percentile.
- Base Shift Identification: RRB mathematically identifies a "Base Shift"—the shift with the highest Mean (Average) score, provided attendance was at least 70% of the overall average across all shifts.
- Interpolation: Candidate percentiles from all other shifts are mapped against the raw mark distribution of the Base Shift using a standard mathematical interpolation formula to produce the final "Normalized Marks" (RRC Score).
- Precision: To prevent ties, percentiles are calculated up to 5 decimal places. If a tie still occurs, the older candidate is placed higher in merit.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET) Standards
Candidates who clear the CBT cutoff (normalized) will be shortlisted for the PET. The PET is qualifying in nature, meaning no marks are added to your final merit, but failing it results in immediate disqualification.

- Weight Carry: Lift and carry 35 kg of weight for a distance of 100 meters in 2 minutes in one chance without putting the weight down.
- Running: Run a distance of 1000 meters in 4 minutes and 15 seconds in a single chance.
Female / Transgender Candidates
- Weight Carry: Lift and carry 20 kg of weight for a distance of 100 meters in 2 minutes in one chance without putting the weight down.
